ACOPS has continued to
promote North/South exchange of views amongst academics and
scientists. It held an important scientific conference at
the Royal Society and Natural History Museum in May 2003 on
Coastal Zones in Sub-Saharan
Africa: A scientific
review of the priority issues influencing sustainability
and vulnerability in coastal communities.
It is anticipated
that further conferences will now take place on a regular
basis, with the next one expected to take place in Africa
in 2004. The Proceedings of the Conference are being
published and will be available shortly.
