OKACOM - KAZA Workshop

OKACOM - KAZA Workshop

EPSMO project Manager Chaminda Rajapakse at OKACOM KAZA workshop

OKACOM's EPSMO Project participated in a one day OKACOM - Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) Workshop in Livingstone, Zambia, 28 April 2010, to look at  synergy within the OKACOM and KAZA initiatives and their respective work plans and to propose a strategy for accessing resources to implement activities considered essential to both initiatives. The KAZA Project involves five countries -- Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe -- in planning for a transboundary corridor protected area from the Zambezi and Chobe rivers west to Angola. Wokshop participants compared components of the OKACOM's draft Strategic Action Programme with activities proposed by KAZA member countries to reveal overlaps and areas for possible cooperation.
