MRC Fisheries Programme 9th Technical Symposium on Mekong Fisheries

Notification of dates and call for papers

The MRC Fisheries Programme will hold the 9th Technical Symposium on Mekong Fisheries at the Royal Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia, on the 19 – 20 November 2008.

The symposium will be arranged around three themes: (i) fisheries ecology, evaluation and mitigation, (ii) fisheries management, and (iii) aquaculture of indigenous Mekong species. The symposium will comprise both oral presentations and poster displays. There will also be a half day workshop on the subject of 'the impact of the development of water resources on the fisheries of the Mekong river system'.

If you wish to attend the symposium and are not a counterpart staff of the MRC Fisheries Programme, you can register for the symposium by contacting Ms Manothone Vorabouth at the email address below. She will also be able to advise you about accommodation. If you are a counterpart staff of the MRC Fisheries Programme, please contact your National Programme Coordinator.

The proceedings of the symposium will be published as part of the MRC Conference Series.

If you wish to give a presentation or display a poster, you should be prepared to submit written papers to the standard and style of this series according to the timetable outlined below. Information and guidelines for presenters can be downloaded from the links on the right.

Timetable for Papers and Posters

Mid September - Paper titles and names of authors to National Programme Coordinators.

1st October - National Programme Coordinators to notify FP Programme Manager which counterpart will attend the symposium and the title and author(s) of papers and posters.

1st October - Abstracts submitted to Component Advisors for editing.

15th October - Deadline for registration.

15th October - Component Advisors to submit abstracts to Symposium Organisers.

End December - Papers submitted to Component Advisors.
