Biomonitoring of the Lower Mekong River and Selected Tributaries 2004-2007

This report summarizes and interprets the results of the four years of biomonitoring. Biomonitoring provides important additional information to MRC's water quality monitoring program (mainly physical and chemical parameters) because plants and animals are sensitive a wide range of environmental factors, including many that are not practical to measure routinely in physical and chemical monitoring programmes.

As assessment of Water Quality in the Lower Mekong Basin

An Assessment of Water Quality in the Lower Mekong Basin, November 2008 summarises the results of an assessment of the water quality of the river system from 1985 to 2005. It provides a number of indicators relating to aquatic life, human impacts, and agricultural use, which can be used to assess the water quality of the Mekong and its tributaries.

Diagnostic study of water quality in the Lower Mekong Basin

This report presents the results of an analysis of the physical and chemical water quality of the lower Mekong river-system based on water and sediment samples collected during 2003 and 2004. The analysis covered a wide range of conventional parameters, such as heavy metals as well as toxic micro-pollutants, PAHs, PCBs, dioxins and furans. The study establishes current baseline conditions for environmental contaminants in the river system. It also makes a number of recommendations regarding the scope and methodology of future water-quality monitoring exercises.

Biomonitoring of the Lower Mekong River and Selected Tributaries

This report documents the findings of field work which examines species composition and variability at 20 sites across the Lower Mekong Basin and identifies those physical and chemical factors that most strongly correlate with variations in these biological communities.

Social Atlas of the Lower Mekong Basin

The 51 maps in this atlas provide rare insights into social issues at province level within the Lower Mekong Basin countries of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. The maps show indicators for population, labour force, living standards, health and education across the river basin, enabling useful comparisons to be made on cross-cutting issues.

The interactive CD-ROM version contains all the maps found in the book version, and comes with a mapping application enabling the output of customised maps from the data.
