| Abstract | Environmental survey of the Shah Deniz contract area. BP is the operator of a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) regulating hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production in the contract area.
The Shah Deniz (SD) contract area (Figure 1.1) in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea is a rectangle 44 by 20 km, approximately 15 km south of Shahdilli spit at its closest point. Water depth ranges from 20 to over 700 metres, the seabed sloping generally downward from northwest to southeast. |
