Training course on monitoring, based on risk evaluation for improvement of ground waters’ quality, held in Ashgabad, Turkmenistan
on 23 – 27 April 2001

Pure potable water is a vital element of human existence. Raw ground water from springs, wells and holes is the only available water source for lots of population groups, living in rural and suburban settlements. Provision with collecting system is urgent for human health improvement. Though weak engineering or wrong disposition of collecting system may lead direct or indirect to ground waters’ pollution. It is important to develop integrated approach for rational maintenance of ground waters and management of sanitary condition.

The main idea of suggested pilot project on ground waters’ monitoring is improvement of their quality by prevention of entrance of waste substances on the way of source-receptor. This approach, based on risk evaluation, will direct actions to concrete sources and ways of waste substances entrance, that will allow avoiding carrying out of unnecessary and expensive recovery works.

In the frames of Caspian Environment Programme the International Training course on Ground waters’ monitoring was held in Ashgabad, Turkmenistan on 23-27 of April 2001.
