HELCOM RECOMMENDATION 2/3 

adopted 17 February 1981, having regard to Article 13, Paragraph b) of the Helsinki Convention

RECOMMENDATION CONCERNING THE APPLICATION BY THE BALTIC SEA STATES OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR PROCESS UNITS INTENDED FOR ATTACHMENT TO EXISTING OILY-WATER SEPARATING EQUIPMENT

THE COMMISSION,

 

RECALLING HELCOM Recommendation 1/2 concerning the Application by the Baltic Sea States of IMCO Resolution A.393(X) - Recommendation on International Performance and Test Specifications for Oily-Water Separating Equipment and Oil Content Meters,

 

RECOGNIZING that the Assembly of IMCO has adopted, at its eleventh session Specifications for Process Units intended for Attachment to existing Oily-Water Separating Equipment as contained in Appendix 1 to Resolution A.444(XI),

 

RECOMMENDS that Governments of the Contracting Parties to the Helsinki Convention:

 

a)         should apply the Specifications for Process Units intended for Attachment to existing Oily-Water Separating Equipment as contained in Appendix 1 to IMCO Resolution A.444(XI):

b)         should establish testing programmes in accordance with the aforesaid Specifications and exchange information on experience gained when carrying out testing;

c)         should utilize the forms of Certificates of Type Test for Process Units for Attachment to existing Oily-Water Separating Equipment attached to Appendix l to Resolution A.444(XI);

d)         should recognize such Certificates issued under the authority of a Government of another Baltic Sea State as having the same validity as Certificates issued by them; and

e)         should use such Certificates, issued under the authority of a Government of another Baltic Sea State, as a basis for national approval of equipment.
