HELCOM Ministerial Meeting
Helsinki, 2 November (HELCOM Information Service) - The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM) will hold the Meeting of the Ministers of the Environment and Senior Government Officials of its Member States and the European Community on 15 November 2007 in Krakow, Poland. The Meeting will discuss the current state of the Baltic marine environment and adopt the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan to drastically reduce pollution to the Baltic Sea and restore its good ecological status by 2021.
The HELCOM Ministerial Meeting will take place at the Qubus Hotel (2nd floor, conference rooms C, D & E), Nadwislanska Street 6. Working sessions are scheduled to begin at 09:00 and conclude at 13:00. There will be a photo opportunity at the beginning of the Meeting. Print media and news agencies will also be invited to the cover the opening statement. The Meeting will be followed by a joint press conference of the Ministers and Senior Government officials of the HELCOM Member States (2nd floor, conference room A). All media representatives wishing to cover the Meeting and participate in the press conference must request accreditation from the HELCOM Secretariat by 14 November 2007 (the latest). Accreditation is open to representatives of bone fide news-gathering organisations and freelance media representatives on assignment for recognized news organisations.
Meeting credentials for the accredited press will be distributed at 08:15 from the Media Centre which will be set up at the Qubus Hotel. The Media Centre will provide journalists with Meeting documents and background information.
