Tara is Out of the Ice

The scientific polar schooner Tara, a ship deliberately frozen into ice, is free. She started an Arctic drift in September 2006 and, after covering 5,200 kilometers in the Arctic, was released from the pack ice returning, once again, to a sailboat. Tara expected reached her home port in Lorient in February 2008, and the public joined a welcoming ceremony and other festivities to celebrate Tara's return. More...
