Seeking Environmental Leaders

Join a Global Team of Professionals Committed to Making a Difference

Vision, Responsibility, Competence

The world is changing rapidly. Prosperity has reached unprecedented levels. But so have our demands on the environment, and so has the gap between rich and poor. Natural resources provide services that sustain our lives and are crucial for economic development and human well-being. Using natural resources sustainably is key to ensuring their availability also for future generations while satisfying the needs of today.

UNEP is looking for dynamic, creative, forward looking, dedicated and results-oriented senior managers, environmental experts with outstanding leadership qualities, a track record of succeeding in a multi-cultural environment, the capacity to bring together and respond to governments, civil society, the private sector and our other partners in creating opportunities and solutions for sustainable development.

This is happening at a moment in time when the United Nations is undergoing reform and when global environmental governance is being redefined.

As vacant positions will continue to be posted on the UNEP website, interested and qualified applicants are encouraged to regularly visit this page for new vacancies.

UNEP particularly encourages qualified women to apply to our current work opportunities.

As applicants only are considered for the positions to which they apply, it is encouraged that interested and qualified candidates apply for more than one position when qualifications are in line with the requirements of the respective advertised positions.

UNEP will pay due regard to the importance of recruiting staff on as wide a geographical basis as possible (United Nations Charter, Chapter 15, Article 101).

The United Nations places no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in any capacity under conditions of equality in its principal and subsidiary organs (United Nations Charter, Chapter 3, Article 8).

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Unsolicited applications will not be considered by the Organization.

WARNING TO APPLICANTS:

The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (Application, Interview Meeting, Processing, Training or any other fees). The United Nations does not concern itself with information on bank accounts.

Candidates who are seriously being considered for a post will be contacted for an interview. For additional information on the UN recruitment process and information security, please refer to the following links: Frequently Asked Questions and United Nations Privacy Policy.
