Building knowledge networks for promoting best-practice

Conversations, partnerships and collaboration are cornerstones of knowledge management for the Capturing Coral Reef & Related Ecosystem Services (CCRES) project.

The objective for Component 3 is to engage established networks of influential stakeholders to promote best-practice in coastal management, planning, regulation and policymaking in the Philippines, Indonesia and the East Asia-Pacific region.

This community of stakeholders from the government, donor agencies, research sectors, NGOs and programs and projects - covering national, provincial and local scales, initially, is the platform for knowledge sharing, innovation and adoption.

By engaging established networks of influential stakeholders, the CCRES project will:

• Raise awareness and understanding of communities at pilot sites of the link between coastal and marine ecosystems services and their livelihoods and health; and
• Facilitate the use of knowledge products, business tools and valuation models by coastal and marine resource managers, planners, regulators and policymakers.

This activity is undertaken through reciprocal engagement with stakeholders, placing strong emphasis on partnerships, leadership and collaboration, and culturally-responsive approaches to gathering information about the desires, attitudes, and current behaviours of individuals in pilot sites.

It is envisaged the tools and models under development in Component 1 and Component 2 will have more impact because the project is involving key stakeholders in research planning, product design and delivery of the outputs.
