Baltic and European news
The European commission launched a strategy to boost EU marine and maritime research on Wednesday. The commission wants to bridge the gap between the two fields by promoting inter-disciplinary research such as studies on the impact of human activities on marine eco-systems. Other actions announced include the development of more research facilities such as ocean observatories. The strategy follows the publication last year of a policy paper on integrated maritime policy (EED 10/10/07 http://www.endseuropedaily.com/articles/index.cfm?action=article&ref=24053).
