Baltic and European news
The European economic and social committee (EESC) has urged the EU to do more to prepare citizens for climate change. In an opinion adopted last week the advisory body argued that current discussions focus too much on "far-off scenarios".
In a separate opinion on EU energy policy, it called for a strategic goal of a diversified energy mix. It recommended increasing the use of nuclear power and European coal to reduce the share of imported oil and gas.
