Council approves EU climate change package
A major package of six climate and energy laws aimed at reducing Europe's greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent by 2020 is set to enter force after clearing its final legislative hurdle on Monday (EE 26/03/09 http://www.endseurope.com/21005).
EU justice and home affairs ministers meeting in Luxembourg formally approved laws on emission trading, renewable energy, national greenhouse gas targets for 2020, carbon capture and storage, fuel quality and car emissions, based on a deal struck with MEPs in December (EE 17/12/08 http://www.endseurope.com/20238).
