UN unveils overarching climate negotiating text
The UNFCCC has published an overarching negotiating text for the international climate talks that will be discussed by world governments at their next round of global climate discussions in June in Bonn.
The document sits above two other negotiating texts released last Friday (EE 19/05/09 http://www.endseurope.com/21378). It fleshes out a road map adopted in Bali two years ago (EE 17/12/07 http://www.endseurope.com/14462), detailing a multitude of government proposals on climate mitigation, adaptation, financing, and technology transfer.
In Bonn, governments will attempt to start narrowing down these options with a view to agreeing a new global climate deal in Copenhagen in December to take effect from 2013.
