Denmark has achieved environmental improvements in many areas such as recycling and product ecolabelling, environment minister Troels Lund Poulsen said on Wednesday as he presented updated national sustainability indicators.  But these achievements must be weighed against persisting "major challenges" in agriculture, air pollution and the aquatic environment, the minister said.

Overall, the indicators confirm the positive trend of recent years (EED 02/06/05 http://www.endseuropedaily.com/articles/index.cfm?action=article&ref=18913).

Denmark has now defined 87 indicators.  Of 13 "key indicators", ten have improved or remained stable since 2001.
