Special issue of HELCOM News with an overview of the Baltic Sea health released

newsletter_04_2005_cover.jpgHelsinki, 15 December (HELCOM) – The Helsinki Commission today released a special issue (No. 4/2005) of its Newsletter, HELCOM News, featuring an overview of current trends in the Baltic marine environment. The articles are based on the latest HELCOM assessments, which form the backbone of the Commission’s work providing objective information on the health of the Baltic Sea, and helping to define the need for further environmental actions.

The overview provides a quick insight into the environmental issues affecting the Baltic Sea today, while also serving as a useful foundation for a wider study of the Baltic marine environment.

The scientific data contained in this issue of HELCOM News was presented at the Baltic Sea Informal Meeting for Ministers of the Environment, which took place on 23rd November 2005 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The PDF version of HELCOM news issue 4/2005 can be viewed on the Commission's website at http://helcom.navigo.fi/stc/files/Publications/Newsletters/newsletter_04_2005_web.pdf .
