14.5 IMPLICATIONS OF GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

Agricultural activity and plans are vulnerable to global climate change. Shifts in the hydrologic regime could occur if patterns of seasonal temperature and rainfall change. This could in turn alter the amounts or timing of water available for irrigation, for other human uses and to meet the needs of wetlands. In order to adapt to these changes caused by global climatic factors agricultural, fisheries and wetland managers will have to develop plans that anticipate possible trade-off decisions that must be made so that effective actions can be taken to minimize and balance effects on those resource sectors.
