Association of Social and Economic Researches is created in May, 2001 and registered in the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan in October, 2003. The organization is memberers of European Mountain Forum (EMF), the Steering Committee of the program of development of mountain regions of Caucasus and the National sosial group of monitoring of oil pipeline project Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyxan. The primary goal of the organization is a participation in creation of economic policy peculiar to the independent state, sustainable development of communities and assistance in increase of ecological knowledge of children and youth, as well as improvement of ecology of republic, social protection of the population, rendering assistance into reduction of poverty and unemployment, a deepening and development of economic reforms, development of projects on privatization of the state property, integration of economy into the world economy, , realization of concrete projects for development of small and average business and other activity which is not contradicting to the current legislation. For performance of an object in view the organization carries out the below-mentioned tasks: • Preparation and realization of corresponding projects; • carrying out of appropriate scientific conferences, seminars, competitions, debates; • rendering information and a legal aid; • informing population of Azerbaijan about ecological problems; • carried out according to questions of social and economic development of competitions; • creation and development of foreign economic relations with the similar organizations abroad. Now there are 60 members in the organizations such as: 2 doctors, 3 ŕspirants, 5 magistres, 12 students, 12 bisnesmanes, 10 engineers, 8 economists, 3 ecologies, 1 auditor, 3 accountans, and young researchers. Members and volunteers of the organization have passed training and participated on special trainings on studying conventions on questions of a biodiversity, an ecological policy, management of financial and manpower resources, a correct spelling of projects and conducting researches, struggle against corruption and establishments of connections with donors and fundraising. We have very good contacts to communities and the institutions of local government located in specified geographical region. Our organization enters about structure of working group on carrying out of republican competition which purpose is to make active the efforts of bodies of local self-government institutions, the public and the population on issues of preservations of the environment, has lead a number of seminars on informing the public and the population on importance of this action and has given concrete advice and consultations to the various state organizations in regions of the country.

The Sumgayit Centre for Environmental Rehabilitation was established for sustainable development of the results of Environmental Rehabilitation of Sumgayit Project, signed to implementation on December 26, 1997, financed by the United Nations Development Programme and implemented in co-operation with the Government of Azerbaijan. To realize the project UNDP “Sumgayit Environmental Rehabilitation”, the work was organized this way. At the end of the project it was functioning as a Center. Considering that the founder of the Center was also UNDP. Sumgayit Center for Environmental Rehabilitation was officially registered in August 9, 2002.The aim of the Sumgayit Center for Environmental Rehabilitation is to assist in solving environmental problems in diapozone “Local - Country - Region” through the promotion of cooperation at international, national and local levels, creating of such an environment that will improve the ecosystem as well as conditions for sustainable environmental development within which economic growth and investments could take a place.Sumgayit Center collates, develops and inculcates a compendium of project ideas/concepts operate an effective environmental information management system that develops various mechanisms to increase and strengthen environmental awareness among the general public through various activities, publications, conferences and workshops, training, etc.

ACEP in cooperation of highly qualified scientists and specialists and participation of leading Azerbaijan research institutions, provides the following environmental works: Collection and informational-analytical review of data on the assessment of the existing environmental situation for industrial settlements, land and water areas including natural conditions, biological resources, economic activity, socio-economic conditions (medical and biological) cultural and historical aspects; Performance of complex environmental survey; Working out environmental justifications of production activities including EIA, ecological certification of enterprises and estimation of maximum permissible emissions and discharges of pollutants; Environmental audit of fields, enterprises; Elaboration of normative and other documents for environmental protection; Development of e-maps using GIS MapInfo and ArcView softwares; Laboratory-analytical services on the basis of complex chemical laboratory equipped with up-to-date facilities and taking consideration international standards; Organization and performance of complex environmental monitoring; Preparation ecological certificates of the enterprises, and of Maximum Permissible Emissions (MPE) and Maximum Permissible Discharge (MPD); Antrophogenic environmental impact assessment; Hydrogeological, geological and topographic surveys.

Starting from 1998 since CEPCU has been launched specialists of our company have participated in numerous workshops held in the frame of this project. In 2005 consortium of 3 companies – ACEP, Ecoproject – Russia and KAPE – Kazakhastan won tender of Caspian coastal zones inventory and sites identification that have a great importance and/or sensible to impact in the frame of ecosystem approach.
ACEP is an Independent Environmental Company, established in Baku in 1998. Being one of the first privately owned companies, established in Azerbaijan, ACEP presents the widespectrum services, such as environmental audit and consulting, environmental protection and environmental impact assessment.

NCEF and “ECO-REAL” goals and forms of activity:  to conduct ecological monitoring, forecasting and public awareness on environmental disaster and risks;  to analyze existing ecological regulations and standard acts and present proposals to introduce amendments to these regulations and standard acts;  to preserve and restore the diversity of eco-systems;  to protect residents’ ecological rights and preserve their health;  to conduct conferences, seminars, trainings and courses;  to publish ecological books, brochures, magazines and bulletins;  to prepare analytical materials and formulate a questionnaire.
For the past year of 2008 the following projects have been implemented: • Establishment of “BIOGAS” Regional Information Center”; • Establishment of “SOLAR HOUSE” Information Center; • Setting up of “CLEAN MECHANISM” Center on Ecological Education; • Designing “RECOMMENDATION – TECHNOLOGY” for cleaning and revival of degraded oily lands; • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for especially conserved areas of North – North-East and East territories of the Caucasus of the Azerbaijan Republic , intended as per Regional Infrastructure Development to be developed in 2009-2013 has been worked out to be presented to the World Bank. • More than 25 eco-educational seminars and 10 press conferences were held during this period.

Field of activity is scientific supporting of social and economic development of Azerbaijan and its international relationship. Center carries out activity in the following directions: researches, educational programs, consulting, publishing, etc.
The Center has a large experience of realization of projects in cooperation with the international organizations. More 160 projects have carried out since June 1995; 44 of them – for last 3 years. The donors were exceptionally foreign organizations mainly different UN organizations and other international governmental and nongovernmental organizations. As examples we can show following: 102. Elaboration of recommendations to rehabilitate Absheron and Great Mugan canals – 2006 Third research included survey in 12 regions of the country, located in above canals' zones (by the order of PIU State Committee on Melioration and Water Problems of the Azerbaijan Republic for the World Bank). 103.
