The main objective: to promote preservation, protection, rehabilitation of the environment and the young generation’s health, nature and culture heritage of Azerbaijan; propaganda of the principles of humanism, charity, compassion in various fields of life.
Main fields of activity: environmental education and training, propaganda of the kind treatment of animals, social and domestic assistance, healthy lifestyle propaganda for the young generation, study of the development of interaction between the human being, human society and the surroundings (nature, culture, traditions), training of the young generation to love and respect their cultural and historical traditions, elaboration and implementation of the new methods of environmental training for kids, teenagers, students and adults.

Awareness of the population, participation of the society in decision making and access to justice regarding issues concerned environment, cultural heritage and health of the population;
Ecologization of the various kinds and branches of culture and art;
Development of ecological and cultural tourism in Azerbaijan;
Ecological services and assistance in nature protection and conservation activity;
Social assistance;
Community development program in regions of Azerbaijan in spheres of ecological and cultural tourism, handy-crafts production.
Propagation of a healthy image of life and reproductive health for young generation;
Propagation of the human attitude to an animal;
Rendering assistance to a wild and home animal;
Protection of the rights of animals.

• Assessment of efficacy of natural spawning and size of possible industrial return of sturgeon of the rivers Kura and Araz;
• Giving review information about the condition of biological objects and about all other ecological parameters of Caspian sea;
• Provision of the vessel for marine monitoring;
The following types of analytical research are conducted by the AzerFRI:
• Assessment of distribution, quantity, qualitative compound of population and determination of Optimally Allowable Catch (OAC) of sturgeon fish, analysis of kilka industry in the framework of intergovernmental program of the Caspian littoral countries;
• Biotechnological improvement of artificial breeding of sturgeon fish and Kura salmon applicable for changeable environmental conditions;
• Analysis of hydro-chemical parameters;
• Identification of specific and quantitative composition of ichthyofauna, macrozoobenthos, phytoplankton, zooplankton, periphyton, coastal vegetation, microorganisms, colifom index;
• Ecotoxicological research of Caspian objects (fish, invertebrates and phytoplankton);
• Pathomorphological and physiological studies of organism conditions (fish, seals).

- The AzerFRI enlists to peer review of marine bioresources damage on projects of EIAs prospecting and working out of oil-and-gas field of Caspian sea in the framework of Azerbaijan International Operational Company (AIOC, bp).
- AzerFRI participates in strategic and regional programs of international organizations (EU, TACIS, CEP-UNDP, FAO, Commission on the Aquatic Bioresources of the Caspian Sea), embracing aspects of technical collaboration, management, protection and sustainable development of (sturgeon) fisheries, biodiversity conservation of Caspian Sea and protection its ecosystem from invasive species.
- The AzerFRI offers ecological service on commercial basis for foreign oil companies working in Azerbaijan on EBAs and EIAs projects and various oil-and-gas field monitoring carried out in compliance with international requirements.
