The tourism module explores the basic concepts behind this economic sector and the realities of tourism in the Benguela region.

By the end of the course the students should have gained an understanding of:

1. the tourism system and the existing types of tourism
2. the natural and cultural tourism attributes in the Benguela region
3. the potential environmental impacts of tourism
4. the basic concept of ecotourism
5. the realities of tourism

The students are expected to apply the knowledge acquired in:

1. the analysis of three different case studies around the world
2. the analysis of one newspaper articles about environmental guidelines for tourism
3. a self-test
