Description:

The main objective is the preparation of the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity, as well as the First and Third National Reports for the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. These documents will provide indicators for the protection of biodiversity in Angola.

Another outcome that is expected from this project is a better understanding of the state of biodiversity in Angola, existing pressures on biodiversity, priorities for conservation, and actions required to ensure the conservation of biodiversity.

Relevant Activities: 

 The main project activities include:

• Preparation of six thematic studies relating to biodiversity;
• Conduction of two national workshops to discuss and gather opinions;
• Conduction of several regional workshops to present the thematic studies and gather input;
• Collection of additional information through sectoral meetings and the establishment of partnerships with institutions involved in biodiversity conservation and management issues;
• Activities of public consultation and dissemination of project information.

Target Area:

The project’s target area is the Angolan national territory, with emphasis on the areas with higher biodiversity including protected areas.
