The Regional Coastal and Marine Conservation Programme for West Africa (PRCM)

Description:

The PRCM was established through a joint initiative by the World Conservation Union - IUCN, the International Foundation for the Banc d'Arguin - FIBA, the Worldwide Fund for Nature - WWF, and Wetlands International - WI, in partnership with the Sub-regional Fisheries Commission - CSRP. Today it represents a coalition of nearly 50 partner institutions whose aim is to coordinate efforts to protect the coastal zone in the region's seaboard countries, i.e. Mauritania, Senegal, Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Additional Information:

The purpose of this coordination is to improve the overall coherence of actions, pool available resources, enhance skills at regional level, foster exchanges of experiences, and develop research, training, communication and advocacy action in order to promote a shift toward sustainable development in coastal and marine areas, a change from which human societies will reap the benefits.
