Description:
The Environmental Resource Management Department at the City of Cape Town has been tasked with leading the implementation of the Integrated Metropolitan Environmental Policy (IMEP). This forms the framework for a series of strategies and programmes aimed at ensuring that the principles of environmental sustainability are adhered to.
The five lead strategies are: 1.Biodiversity 2.Energy and Climate Change 3.Coastal Zone Management 4.Cultural Heritage 5.Environmental Education and Training
The department's mission is to assist with planning and implementing sustainable development that improves people’s local environment and protects and enhances Cape Town's unique natural and cultural resources for current and future generations.
