Lower stratospheric temperature record since 1979
Sources Title (cont.) Large variations in stratospheric temperatures are due to sudden stratospheric warming and cooling (SSWC) events which occur in Nother winter (and are related to tropospheric planetary waves), and the impact of volcanic aerosols. The north polar regions exhibit the most dramatic cooling trend of the planet, which is consistent with Arctic ozone depletion. Christy, J.R., 1995. Temperature above the surface layer. Clim.
