The
Department of International Affairs (DIA):
- Coordinates relations with legislative bodies of the member states so as
to provide them with information on the region and the programs of the
Organization and to carry out joint projects in support of the Organization’s
mission.
- Implements policies on external institutional relations, including
relations with the member states, United Nations agencies, inter-American
institutions, international financial institutions, and study and research
centers.
- Recommends means of strengthening the General Secretariat’s ties with the
permanent missions and with specialized organizations and institutions, both
regional and international.
- Devises and implements projects and programs to strengthen contacts
between the General Secretariat and other intergovernmental institutions, both
public and private.
