I just read the second story of ‘Stories for Fire Dogs’ entitled tails of integrity, and loved it… the story really engages one on a personal level and I liked the personal nature of it with the always underlying sense of hope. Sally Andrew started writing this book in 2006, which was, according Chinese astrology, the year of the fire dog. Dogs symbolize those who look after the collective interest of the community, who act as guardians or protectors of the earth and its people. And while others may live in ignorance, they are on constant vigil to the changes happening around them. This book is written for these ‘Dogs’, environmentalist, activists or just the concerned people on the street. Sally Andrew does a truly commendable job in inspiring us to be active in making environmentally conscious decisions and to push governments to formulate policies for sustainability, through personal tales of joy, despair and ultimately hope.’ The earth is ill’ she says but… ‘it is important to understand the nature of the earth’s illness so that we can support her healing’.
