Pole fishing for tuna is a tradition introduced from the island of Madeira in Portugal. Mostly Portugese families continue this tradition in the Benguela, the crew members are from South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia and even Angola. Rough seas are common while fishing tuna, and at night an underwater parachute is used to slow the drifting of the boat.
