ALECSO – PERSGA:

MOU between PERSGA and the Arab League Economic Cultural and Scientific Organisation (Arabic).


IOC – PERSGA (1991):

The MOU between PERSGA and the International Oceanographic Commission (IOC) on Cooperation in Marine Environment Protection defines areas of common interest between the two organisations and accordingly identifies a framework for joint-programming and continued collaboration. The areas of joint-interest relate primarily to the implementation of PERSGA’s Regional Action Plan, scientific seminars and training, monitoring and assessment activities, and data collection.

ROPME – PERSGA (1995):

The Regional Organisation for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) and PERSGA agreed to coordinate their work through conculstation on areas of common-interest, information and expertise exchange, and to extend invitations to attend relevant meetings.

UNEP-ROWA – PERSGA (1996):

PERSGA and UNEP-Regional Office for West Asia defined areas of common-interest and objectives in marine environmental problems. In relation to these areas, the MOU identifies activities that could be jointly-undertaken by the organisations in order to implement the strategies approved by the PERSGA Council and the Governing Council of UNEP. It provides a framework for continued cooperation between the two organisations.

CAMRE – ROPME – UNEP – PERSGA (1999):

The Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE), PERSGA, The Regional Organisation for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), and The United Nations Development Programme (UNEP) signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the four organisations in the planning and implementation of global and regional environmental programmes in the region. It also sought to strengthen bilateral agreements existing between organisations.

CEDARE – PERSGA (1999):

PERSGA and The Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) agreed to cooperate in the following areas: ICZM, mitigation of marine pollution, networking of marine protectorates, public awareness and public participation, training and capacity-building, environmental impact assessment for development activities including tourism development. They also agreed to share technical expertise, conduct regular meetings to discuss progress in their collaborative activities, and to pool resources to conduct regional surveys.

UNEP-MAP – PERSGA (2003):

The MOU Between PERSGA and UNEP-Coordinating Unit for the Mediterranean Action Plan was intended to identify modalities of assistance and cooperation between the two organisations for strengthened implementation of their respective regional programmes.

ISESCO – PERSGA (2006):

PERSGA and The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) agreed to collaborate in the following areas: biodiversity and marine protection, ICZM, marine pollution monitoring and assessment, oceanography and seabed mapping, legislation and enforcement, and training and capcity building. It was agreed that collaboration would be facilitated through information exchange, invitations to expert meetings, periodic Joint-Committee meetings to evaluate the cooperation.
