Ensuring the security of the peoples of the Americas is a key pillar of the Organization of American States. Through its Secretariat for Multidimensional Security, the OAS has moved forward to strengthen cooperation on a number of security fronts and to develop regional policies and strategies to address a range of threats. The OAS also works through different avenues in order to provide security aid that is as comprehensive and efficient as possible. The Committee on Hemispheric Security is primarily responsible for formulating and implementing the OAS’ strategies and policies regarding the security of the region.
