Health in the Americas. Edition 2007.
Washington D.C. October 2, 2007.- Launched the 2007 edition of Health in the Americas at the 27th Pan American Sanitary Conference, publication that offers an updated, comprehensive presentation of the health situation throughout the hemisphere generally and specifically in the 46 countries and territories of the Americas,and it describes and analyzes the progress, constraints, and challenges of PAHO Member States in their efforts to improve the health of the peoples of the Region.

"The search for equity in health is one of the main objectives that guide" the Pan American Health Organization actions in the Americas, PAHO Director Dr. Mirta Roses said today, presenting her annual report to the organization's 47th Directing Council, an annual summit of health ministers who meet to discuss crucial public health issues. Quadrennial Report of the Director, 1994-1997: Leading Pan American Health
This report is a presentation of accounts. Every four years, PAHO’s Member Governments meet at the Pan American Sanitary Conference to set hemispheric policy. Policy adopted by the Conference in 1994, in the form of Strategic and Programmatic Orientations, committed the Pan American Sanitary Bureau to concrete lines of action in health and human development, health systems and services development, health promotion and protection, environmental protection and development, and disease prevention and control. What we have accomplished in those areas is the story told in the pages that follow.

Although there may well be modern versions of the concept of a good that might be at variance with Aristotle's, the view that health may be found among the goods to be created and nurtured by associations remains as one of our working hypotheses.
