01/07/2009 PERSGA countries sign a new protocol

July 1st 2009 has witnessed the adoption of a new regional protocol on ‘Movement of Personnel and Equipment in Case of Emergency” at PERSGA HQ in Jeddah. The approval of this new regional protocol will facilitate exchange of experts and equipment, and their prompt movement to reach any oil/ chemical spill site in sea in case of emergency and requesting assistance by the concerned member country.

 

PERSGA has drafted the protocol since 2006, and then arranged several regional meetings that discussed the draft during 2007 -2008. many national experts, on-scene commanders in the national contingency plans have participated in these meetings, culminating in the preparation of the final draft that was approved and signed by all member countries on 1st July 2009.
