The Seventh meeting of the Regional Working Group on Land-based Pollution was convened from 7th – 10th August 2006 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The meeting was attended by all focal points (or their alternates) for the land-based pollution component, three regional experts, and staff of the Project Co-ordinating Unit. The meeting was aimed at inter alia reaching agreement relating to the land-based pollution component inputs to the Regional Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea. The key items discussed during the meeting were: - A schedule for the publication and distribution of national reports on land-based pollution and their subsequent distribution,
- The completion and adoption of National Action Plans on Land-Based Pollution,
- National contributions to the regional GIS and Meta-Databases,
- The South China Sea Project Training Programme,
- Land-Based Pollution component inputs to the Regional Strategic Action Programme, and
- Possible collaboration with the COBSEA/GPA-LBA Project “Determination of Pollution Loading from Land-Based Sources by Using Modelling and GIS”.
The Land-Based Pollution component of the South China Sea Project is overseen by the Project Co-ordinating Unit’s Senior Expert,
