REC Croatia maintains excellent cooperation with NGOs, authorities and environmentally oriented economic entities in Croatia. The work of REC Croatia is supported by a network of institutions and individual experts from all environment-related sectors, including universities and research institutes.

The country office has a reputation as the main source of environmental information in Croatia. It has the second largest specialised environmental library in the country, with over 600 titles; and a mailing list containing over 400 addresses of NGOs, governmental institutions, media, businesses and interested individuals. It is a reliable resource for the provision of capacity building and technical assistance to NGOs, local and national authorities and industry in developing and administering projects, and in fundraising for environmental initiatives.

REC Croatia supports and facilitates various important environmental processes and activities, including the implementation of the Aarhus Convention and the Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP).

REC Croatia is also one of the country's main promoters of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It has a particular focus on the capacity building of industry and the public sector for the development of business plans for cleaner production and energy efficiency projects; and on energy-efficient planning at local level.

Major donors include the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety and the Federal Environment Agency; the European Commission; the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea; the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (part of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs); the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Protection and Food Safety of the Netherlands; the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, UK; the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction and the Ministry of Culture, Croatia.
