Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA)

The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA) was held on October 6-7, 2009 in Brussels. The meeting was co-chaired by the European Commission and the Regional Environmental Center, as the Secretariat for the ECENA. A website was created for the conference to provide background information and logistical details, as well as a chance to register online.

ECENA is an informal network of environmental authorities from EU candidate and potential candidate countries, as well as from new member states Bulgaria and Romania. The European Commission is also an ECENA member. ECENA's main objective is to support its member countries in strengthening environmental compliance and enforcement in line with obligations taken up in the EU accession process.
