The exploitation and management of water resources have played a vital role in shaping our civilisation. Feats of engineering, such as Roman aqueducts and Turkish baths, illustrate centuries of sustainable water use. The REC’s mission in Central and Eastern Europe is to channel inherited knowledge and to ensure the flow of clean and abundant water for future generations. This brochure was produced for dissemination at the World Water Forum, held in Istanbul in March 2009.
