Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA)

September 2009 | Online | Website

The Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA) is an informal network of environmental authorities from EU candidate and potential candidate countries, as well as from the new member states Bulgaria and Romania. The European Commission is also a member of ECENA. The main objective of ECENA is to support its member countries in strengthening environmental compliance and enforcement in line with obligations taken up in the EU accession process. The network cooperates closely with the EU Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL). The website designed by the REC's Publishing Department provides details of the network, activities, events and members. A library of training materials is also available.
