The project strives to support the establishment of viable transboundary resource management systems, necessary for reversing the ecosystem degradation trends and improving the ecosystem functions. Conserving the most important species and habitats of transboundary importance within and outside the protected areas is amongst the top project priorities supporting the overall project goal.
In order to prioritize conservation action across boundaries, the project initiated a process for selection of the key species and habitats of transboundary concern to be involved in a pilot transboundary conservation programme in 2009. The consensus-driven process, monitored and guided by the transboundary Monitoring and Conservation Working Group (MCWG) proposed several priority species and habitats.
The development of the conservation plans and small scale interventions commenced in 2011 and will result with two transboundary species conservation action plans (Mountain tea and Brown bear), and three habitat conservation action plans (Grecian juniper woods, Brown bear and Caves).
The purpose of this meetingt is to present and discuss the drafts coinservation plans and obtain feedback from the stakeholders. The draft plans are made available for review and comments, and will be dsicussed during the meeting, and agenda for the event is is enclosed with this invitation.
