Structure

Three basic management and coordination structures have been created for the duration of the project. These are the Project Management Unit (PMU), the Strategic Partnership Project Steering Committee (SPSC) and the Strategic Partnership Coordination Group (SPCG). All three structures have specific responsibilities and tasks within the project with important linkages between them.

Partners

The MedPartnership is a collective effort of leading organizations (regional, international, non governmental, etc.) and countries sharing the Mediterranean Sea towards the protection of the marine and coastal environment of the Mediterranean. The MedPartnership is being financially supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and other donors, including the EU and all participating countries.

Coordination Group

The Strategic Partnership Coordination Group (SPCG) is responsible for the overall coordination of the MedPartnership, in particular ensuring effective exchanges and synergy between the Regional Project and the Investment Fund Project.

Steering Committee

The Strategic Partnership Steering Committee acts as the main policy body overseeing the execution of the project. It meets annually and is comprised of the MedPartnership National Focal Points from all GEF-eligible countries, representatives of the implementing agencies and the executing agency , the GEF Secretariat, the co-executing agencies and the EU, the Project Manager, the President of the Bureau of Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention, major donors and one NGO representing a network of NGOs in the Mediterranean.

PMU

The Project Management Unit (PMU) is responsible for the execution of the project and is located in UNEP/MAP.
